Roof shell
The fiberglass plastic shell is usually manufactured using the modern injection process. The VEX process produces components with a high surface quality - even without paint, the roof is a sight to behold. Flexible solar modules can also be easily mounted on the smooth surface, with hardly any change to the vehicle height. The foam core inside the roof shell has an insulating effect.
Fabric bellows and window
The SCA 290 pop-up roof differs from the other roof variants in a number of ways. The standard panoramic fabric bellows is made of polyester and comes in a two-tone design (grey and red) - however, a single-color grey version is also available on request. The mattress is higher than in other SCA models and provides additional comfort alongside the slatted frame and disc springs. The bed construction with disc springs and permeable fabric cover also has the advantage that it allows the warm heating air to pass upwards in vehicles with auxiliary heating, so that the bed is pleasantly warm even in winter. The roof is also around eight kilograms lighter than the other roof variants.
Lying surface
A slatted frame with additional disc springs ensures comfort when lying down. These also ensure the best possible ventilation and a warm bed in winter in vehicles with auxiliary heating. As always with SCA, the mattress itself is made of high-quality foam. The access hatch is closed with a slide-in module. The closing bar can be operated with little effort. This is conveniently multifunctional and can also be used as a clothes hanger or a mounting option for lighting or an iPad or tablet. The extra-high positioning scissors make it possible to sleep with your head both in and against the direction of travel. The feet also benefit from more space. If you fold the bed upwards, you can stand upright comfortably in the vehicle.
Locking system
The roof is equipped with the newly developed SCA-Express-Lock locking mechanism. In addition to an improved design, this offers added safety and is easy to operate. When the roof shell is closed, a practical folding mechanism automatically pulls the fabric bellows inwards so that it cannot become trapped between the body and the roof.
