After the winter break, a quick check of your pop-top roof is worthwhile. During downtime, dirt, moisture or wear may occur. With these steps, you ensure your roof is ready for the first trip.

Inspect and maintain your pop-top roof in spring:

The 7-point checklist for the start of the season

✓ Open the pop-top roof and check the mechanism
✓ Test the gas struts
✓ Inspect the tent fabric for damage
✓ Clean the tent fabric
✓ Maintain the zippers
✓ Reproof the tent fabric
✓ Check seals and roof alignment

Fully open the pop-top roof and check its function

Open your pop-top roof fully once. This allows you to inspect all components.

Pay attention to the following:

• Does the roof open evenly?
• Do the gas struts operate reliably?
• Does the mechanism move smoothly?

If the roof is difficult to open or no longer stays securely in position, worn gas struts may be the cause. With some technical skill, they can be replaced yourself, or alternatively by a workshop.
You can find the right gas struts for your SCA roof model HERE

Check the fabric bellow for damage

Carefully inspect the entire fabric bellow.

Typical points to check include:
• small tears or areas of abrasion
• mold spots or moisture
• condition of the windows
• smooth operation of the zippers

Clean the fabric bellow

During the winter, dust, pollen and dirt accumulate in the fabric.

How to clean the fabric bellow:
1. brush off dry dirt
2. clean with a mild cleaner and water
3. allow the fabric to dry completely

Avoid aggressive cleaning agents or pressure washers. You can find the right cleaner in our CARE KIT

Maintain the zippers

Zippers should remain clean and operate smoothly.

Recommendation:
• remove dirt and debris
• then treat with zipper or silicone care

This helps prevent stuck zippers and premature wear.
For best results, use the lubricant spray from our CARE KIT

Reproof the fabric bellow

Reproofing protects the fabric from moisture and dirt.

Important:
• apply only to clean and dry fabric
• spray evenly
• allow to dry thoroughly

Many campers use standard tent or canopy waterproofing products.
If the fabric bellow is frequently exposed to rain, reproofing during the season is also recommended.

Our CARE KIT includes the appropriate spray.

Check seals and contact surfaces

Inspect the seals running around the pop-top roof.

Pay attention to:
• cracks or brittle areas
• loose or damaged sealing rubbers
• dirt on the contact surfaces

Damaged seals can lead to water ingress and should be replaced in time.
For your roof model, you can find the correct sealing rubber, including the required quantity, HERE

Close the roof and check its fit

Finally, close the roof completely once.

Pay attention to:
• is the fabric bellow properly positioned inside the roof?
• do the locking mechanisms close correctly?
• is the roof seated evenly?

This ensures that your pop-top roof is sealed and securely locked. If adjustments are needed, you can contact your specialist workshop or reach out to us directly. Alternatively, you can book an SCA ROOF CHECK-UP
